An international call for worker's rights

today's action

Lonmin plc - the world's largest platinum producer - has long subjected its workers at the Marikana mine in South Africa to grueling labor for shockingly low wages. As a result, the workers live in squalid shacks beside the mine without electricity or running water. Last week the workers began to strike, demanding higher wages and improvements to their miserable conditions. Even after South African police opened fire on workers striking outside the mine last Thursday, the workers remain defiant.

Rachel Harbut is rallying the international community to get behind these brave South African men and women and back their fight against a large, profit-driven company. Sign the petition urging Lonmin plc to provide their workers with a pay raise from a mere $690 a month to $1560 and better living conditions. This is your chance to add your voice to the worldwide call for worker's rights!
