The U.S. Embassy in Jakarta is seeking an individuals for the positions of
Administrative Clerk in the Diplomatic Security / Anti Terrorism Assistance
office located in Bogor, Cultural Affairs Specialist (Country Coordinator for
the U.S. Education marketing and advising) in the Public Affairs Section, and
Information Assistant in the Public Affairs Office of US Consulate General,
Surabaya.
Administrative Clerk - Bogor

Basic Function of Position

The position serves as Administrative Clerk. The incumbent performs
administrative / clerical duties such as filing, typing, and other
administrative / clerical duties.

Qualifications RequiredAll applicants must address each selection criterion
detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each
item.

Completion of high school is required.
At least three years in administration and clerical / secretarial background is
required.
Level 3 (Good working knowledge) in Speaking / Reading / Writing English and
Level 4 (Fluent) in Speaking / Reading / Writing Bahasa Indonesia are required.
Language proficiency will be tested.
Must be familiar with administrational, clerical job and filing system.
Must be able to use computer office applications, such as word processing,
spread sheet applications, and presentation slides.
Salary: Ordinarily Resident: Rp. 69,275,463- p.a.

Cultural Affairs Specialist - Jakarta
Basic Function of Position

Under the general supervision of the Cultural Affairs Officer (CAO), incumbent
takes the lead and coordinates with Mission personnel and Educational Advising
Centers in Indonesia to develop a country-wide strategy for marketing and
outreach for Education USA and advising centers. Ensures that Education USA in
Indonesia provides a range of services for all students seeking information
about educational opportunities in the United States. Develops outreach
materials and strategy for Embassy personnel and advising centers, as
appropriate. In coordination with @America staff, develop programs; content and
interactive study in the USA activities at the center. Ensures that outreach
provides accurate, comprehensive, unbiased information, advice, and counseling
on educational opportunities in the USA for groups and individuals. Incumbent
supervises one media advisor.

Qualifications RequiredAll applicants must address each selection criterion
detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each
item.

Bachelors degree from a U.S. accredited college or university in marketing,
business or in any liberal arts, social science field is required.
At least five years of relevant, progressively responsible experience in
marketing, management or an educational field; extensive experience in the
customer service is required.
Level 4 (Fluent) in speaking / reading / writing English and Bahasa Indonesia
are required. Language Proficiency will be tested.
Knowledge of marketing combined with outreach skills. Familiarity with
Indonesian and U.S. secondary and post-secondary educational systems, as a
student, administrator, or instructor. Conversant knowledge of U.S.
undergraduate and graduate admissions processes and requirement, including
diversity of types of U.S. colleges and universities, of financial aid
requirements for international students and of educational options in the U.S.
With training provided by the Embassy, develop knowledge about relevant
information resources including education systems, testing, and U.S. laws and
regulations governing international students. Thorough grasp of political,
economic, and social trends in both Indonesia and the U.S.
Superior interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication skills
and strong public speaking skills. Must have sophisticated problem solving and
analytical skills necessary to coordinate and lead mission wide efforts to
promote study in the U.S. Significant abilities include analytical ability,
intellectual curiosity, initiative and resourcefulness. Must be able to plan and
execute programs independently and able to plan ahead in year-long cycles.
Cultural sensitivity, computer and internet research skills, training skills,
and management skills are also essential to the position.
Salary: Ordinarily Resident: Rp. 187,271,861- p.a. (Full performance starting
salary)

Information Assistant - Surabaya
Basic Function of Position

The incumbent works directly with media outlets to get coverage of consulate
activities and programs, organizes press conferences, and places press releases.
S / He assists Consul General (CG) and other officers in preparing and
translating remarks. S / He also monitors local media and prepares daily press
briefing for CG and section chiefs. S / He works closely with Information
section in the U.S. Embassy Jakarta to coordinate press releases and provides
local stories for inclusion in Jakarta-produced press summaries. The incumbent
travels with Public Affairs Officer and CG to provide support at media events
outside Surabaya.

Qualifications Required
All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with
specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.

A Bachelors degree in liberal arts, political science, economics, journalism,
international relations or communication is required.
At least four years of progressively responsible experience in the media field
as a journalist, editor, or public relations / advertising specialist, or a
combination of similar experience is required.
Level 4 (Fluent) Speaking / Reading / Writing English and Bahasa Indonesia are
required. Language proficiency will be tested.
A thorough knowledge of Indonesias media, political, economic, social,
religious, and education environment. General familiarity with key mass media,
government, military, cultural, business, and labor leaders is required.
Knowledge of journalistic and public relations techniques sufficient to help
meet Consulates public diplomacy goals. General knowledge of U.S. political and
social processes and of foreign policy issues relating to U.S - Indonesia
bilateral relations.
Outgoing and at ease with members of the press, government, and general public.
High degree of initiative and the desire to establish and maintain contacts in
coordination with other consulate sections. Ability to translate quickly and
interpret accurately. Sound intellectual judgment, flexibility, and adaptability
to changing schedules and unforeseen circumstances. Ability to work with a
variety of Americans and other foreigners.
Computer skills (word processing, spreadsheet applications, slide presentations,
emails, and internet).
Salary: Ordinarily Resident: Rp. 136,615,067- p.a.
