The entry-level MINI One, brought in yearly by BMW Malaysia in small batches, is
back in town. Buyers of this fresh batch stand to get more kit than before, but
theres also an accompanying price increase.
As before, the One is available in either Chili Red
or Pepper White. Those rims are the same 15-inch 5-Star Twin Spoke
alloys, but there are some new kit such as multifunction buttons, sport
steering wheel, rain sensor and automatic lights, radio MINI Boost and
Bluetooth hands free kit with USB interface. These make the One feel
less bare bones and more like a Cooper from the inside.
The MINI One is powered by a detuned version of the 1.6 litre
four-cylinder engine from the Cooper. Here, it makes 92 hp and 150 Nm of
torque, and when paired to a six-speed automatic gearbox, delivers good
average fuel consumption of 6.7 litres per 100 km.
Fancy one? The price for One is RM146,888 OTR without insurance, a RM3,000
increase over the previous late-2012 batch with less kit.
Buyers would want to add on the MINI Tender Loving Care (TLC) service
package for RM4,088 (around RM1k costlier). TLC takes care of
everything (engine oil change; air filter, micro filter, spark plugs and
brake fluid; maintenance and servicing of brake pads/discs and clutch
in the event of wear and tear, replacement of wiper blades, etc) for
three years or 50,000 km, whichever comes first.
