Senior Ranger (Conservation)

Salary in the range of 28,200 32,270per annum (inclusive of all
allowances)

depending on experience/performance



Our Open Spaces Department manages over 10,000 acres of open space
which is accessible to the public in and around London. This
includes the nationally and internationally recognised Burnham Beeches
and Stoke Common which together consist of 750 acres of ancient
woodland, wood pasture, valley bog and heath land visited by over
550,000 people each year.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable person to lead an
experienced team of Rangers to deliver a professional service to
conserve, protect and manage the Reserves. You will also
have responsibility for work planning, ensuring and developing safe
working practices, and assessing the performance of the members of your
team. Other general duties involve a range of habitat and estate
management operations, supervising contractors/volunteers, leading
guided walks and events and providing, high quality customer care and
uniformed patrols.



You should have excellent communication skills and be a proven leader
along with relevant experience working in countryside management
preferably including woodland management and working with contractors
and volunteers. A relevant qualification in Countryside Management
or a related discipline equivalent to a National Diploma or NVQ Level 3
and a full driving licence are required.

Service accommodation is provided with this role and you will be
required to work on an out-of-office hours duty rota in relation to your
residential service occupancy status. This is in addition to working an
average 37 hours per week on shift and an average of one weekend in
three. Your duties will often require you to work outside.




Starting salary will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
